What I Wore: Skirt (c/o Shabby Apple), Belt (Similar Here), Shirt (Modbod), Shoes (Old Navy), Necklace (Popbasic)

The weather is finally agreeing with the calendar! With things in the sixties and seventies- and most of my neighbors still waiting to start their gardens- it really feels more like spring (and, weather deities, that is a-okay to stay that way!), but summer is almost here for our schools- and for me too! Our students are getting more  squirrely by the day, but there's some exciting job and education prospects ahead of me- that's all I'll say for now, but I'm with them in hoping time will fly by!

Speaking of spring and summer, this skirt is just so quintessentially Springtime, isn't it? Shabby Apple was gracious enough to send it to me last August. Since summer was winding down, it has only been featured a few times on the blog, but there's no doubt it will be in heavy rotation the next few months. It is kind of funny; I've always felt that my closet was one that did not get rotated; it got worn year round. But pieces like this remind me that's not really true- there are somethings beyond the obvious shorts and winter coats that just aren't worn year round. It adds interest to old clothing, if nothing else. What about you? Do you use most of your clothes all year round or do you change things out for spring and fall?

  4. Oh, I do so love this skirt. The color and pattern are so very springy-as you said. I put away my thick sweaters for summer, but everything else stays out in case there is a cooler summer day! One can never know in the midwest :)
Also, good luck with the end of the school year! We got released last week and it has been fabulous to have a few days off!

    1. That kinda how most of my wardrobe works too.

Lucky you for having getting off already. Of course, South Dakota- you lot are probably tougher about snow days too, which is part of why we are still in school...

  5. Love the colors and structure of this skirt! Where I live it's easy to mostly keep the same wardrobe- just add some layers in the summer. Since it's pretty much always sunny, bright colors and prints never feel out of style to me :)

    1. Yeah, in AZ I bet you can use more items pretty much year round :)

      Thank you, by the way.

  6. Ah, what a nice, twirly skirt! The apple green color is so lovely. I especially like how you belted it. That lake seems to be such a nice, breezy place to take pictures...

I definitely use my items year round! I live in Alabama so it doesn't get super chilly here, or at least I can dart from campus building to campus building fast enough where I can just layer tights and jackets with my summer skirts and dresses :D

also, I laughed out loud at your naked Barbie story--hahaha! That's too funny. Nudist Barbie colony. ;)

    1. So glad you enjoyed the tale. Not sure if it makes it even more bizzare or not, but once I realized nearly all barbies are girls (except the Ken doll, I suppose), I also made my sister play Amazon Barbies quite a bit too... oh dear.

I've been enjoying your "winter" layering and am excited to see what you have in store for summer.

  7. I can never get enough of this skirt every time you wear it! It really is such a perfect summer piece, so I can't wait to see how you style it more throughout the season.

  9. Can't go wrong with gingham! I think living in SF lets you wear the same things most of the year round! As long as they aren't warm weather things - you won't get too much wear out of sandals here...

    1. Ha! That actually sounds lovely. We went right from snow to temps in the 80s. Moderate weather sounds like a dream right now...

  10. Love that skirt! I'm so loving gingham this past year! And as for seasonal vs all year round clothes... the majority of mine is year round. I tend to try not to buy seasonal clothing, I like to get my money's worth and really be able to wear things all the time. I do have a few select items that are season specific, but not many.

    1. I like to get my money's worth too, so it was kin of surprising to realize how much of my wardrobe I didn't wear much. Part of it was with my job I needed to be outside no matter the weather for 35 minutes for recess duty, which cut down on the number of skirts I was able to wear... so glad that in summer I don't have to worry about it as much, though all my sweaters are going to be packed away. We're already in the 80s and 90s....
