What I Wore: Sweater (Old), Skirt (Catworld via Yesstyle.com), boots and legging (old), You Really Dot Me Top (Modcloth), Hair doughnut (H&M)

This is one of those outfits that I've been meaning to get on the blog forever, because I wear it All. The. Time. It never fails to make me feel elegant and intelligent (can clothes make you feel smarter?). Plus, several of the students at an elementary I work at said I looked like a princess in it. Now, I'm no Kate Middleton, but that still seemed like a pretty awesome thing to aspire to look like!

As much as I'd like to take credit for the outfit, it was actually inspired by this outfit from Kekio Lynn. Think I saw this outfit way before I'd ever thought of becoming a blogger. It was one of those outfits that made me think 'Hey, I could do that.' As in, I could make an outfit like that. Better yet, I could wear an outfit like that. I could wear that even in Small Town, Wyoming no less! Any of you have bloggers who's styles inspire or have inspired you? Who, what, where, when?! Answer in the comments below!

  1. I just bought a chiffon skirt like that in plum. I really love that look. The high bun makes you look taller :)

  2. Oh, how funny-I have an outfit inspired by that same post by Keiko! It was quite the beautiful look and I just love how you emulated it. The skirt is so flowy and pretty and I think the black boots were a great choice! It's so cute when kids give you compliments :) This is definitely princess like!
Here was how I copied the look a LONG time ago, haha. http://butterflylovessnapdragons.blogspot.com/2011/01/balmy.html

  3. It's the little things. I find myself loving that polka dot sheer blouse peeking from underneath the cowl neck of your top. Really nice touch. The skirt makes the outfit, though. It's just wonderful!

  5. You probably get this a lot: but I love your blog name.

Okay back to the outfit: GREAT. I really like the roughness of the boots with the feminine quality of the skirt. I look forward to reading more of your blog, I love your style :)

    1. Thank you Ashley. Actually, until just this week I'd never gotten a comment about the blog name, so I'm really happy people get the joke and like it :D

  6. You rock this outfit perfectly and I'm pretty sure you've mastered the messy, high bun. I have yet to do so - it always ends up looking like a tiny blob on the top of my head - guess I have to wait for my hair to grow out longer!

And I also have those outfits that I just wear so often but never have a chance to photograph, so I definitely feel you on that. :)

  11. That skirt is so gorgeous, it's positively ethereal! The boots add such an awesome hard edge to this. Aren't compliments from little ones the best? You know they're honest! :)

    1. Thanks, Annie! And yes, you certainly know they're honest. We had to send the classes we'd be student teaching an introduction letter and had to include a photo (this was before the blog or being particularly into fashion beyond T-shirts). I get to the class and a girl raises her hand to tell me "You look prettier in your pictures than you do in real life."

That maaaay have been part of me getting more into fashion now that I think about... happy ending to the story though! She'd told me I'd "improved" how I dressed by the end of the semester.

    1. Thanks Jessi! To be fair, I use a hair bun doughnut, so that's a lot of volume, but it looks fun, so it all works :)

  20. This is nerdy, but it reminds me of blogger Princess Leia. The flowy cream skirt, boots, and the high, more stylized than how she wore it bun - well, it's awesome. I'm a huge fan.
